Established in September 1995 A.K.Assistance is a small firm which prides itself on its personal individual service. The company is registered with Constructionline, the UK register of pre-qualified construction services run by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).
The company regularly uses the same people for specific types of work – with Arron also getting regularly involved in the “hands on” side of the business not only as a skilled craftsmen.
The firm usually has three or four jobs under way at any one time.
“A project could be a lot of money – or a little” he says. “From £50 to £500,000. “We are working for a local authority in Upper Norwood in south London for £70 – but we have just finished building four houses for a private developer for half a million.
“A lot of building companies will not touch small jobs. “They will say to a potential client: ‘Sorry – we can’t do that. ‘You’ll have to get in a local handyman.’ But we will do it – and that work will be guaranteed.
“When we are approached by a potential client we will ask them for a brief of what they want. “We will give them professional advice as to whether it’s achievable and that what they want is within local planning laws. “We would then produce costings and computer automated drawings and, at the end of the day, build to the satisfaction of the client – whether it’s an extension, loft conversion garden outbuilding or a major property.
“Everything is done ‘in house’ from the pre-planning stage through to completion. “It’s just the one person you are dealing with.”
